Event Timeline
celebrating our heritage

background
As we will be getting married overseas, we wanted to host a local celebration for our family and friends at home. The day will feature Chinese and Filipino traditions, food, and festivities. Please note that this will not be a traditional wedding reception, but rather a cultural celebration to share this special moment with you after we say “I do” abroad.
Event times have not yet been finalized; please check back in October for updated information.
chuangmen

Before Nate can reach Nina, he and his groomsmen must first get past the bridesmaids! Chuangmen is a lively Chinese tradition where the groom completes a series of fun challenges and games to prove he’s worthy—expect plenty of laughs, a few push-ups, and maybe even some red envelope “bribes.” It’s the perfect way to kick off the wedding celebration!
tea ceremony

We will be holding a traditional Chinese tea ceremony to honor our parents and family elders. During this meaningful ceremony, we will serve tea as a way of showing respect and expressing our gratitude for all they’ve done for us. It’s a heartfelt moment where we receive their blessings as we begin our life together.
banquet

Get ready for a traditional 10‑course Chinese banquet paired with a whole roasted Filipino lechon at the Grand Neptune Seafood Restaurant at 4331 Dominion St. Burnaby, BC V5G 1C7! This feast brings together the best of both our cultures—classic Chinese banquet dishes symbolizing abundance, good fortune, and celebration, alongside a Filipino favorite that represents prosperity and festivity. It’s a delicious way to honor our heritage and share the flavors that we love with you all.
